Linclon Ridge seen from Calpine in Sierra Valley

Lincoln Ridge viewed from Calpine

Calpine is a small town originally built in 1919 when the Davies-Johnson Lumber Company opened a sawmill and a box factory in Western Sierra Valley. Many of the original structures built by the company have been renovated and remodeled and are still in use today. The immediate area is a blend of rustic cabins, vacation homes, full time residences and ranches. The quiet and rural ambiance¬† is a real treasure in today’s world while all of amenities that Tahoe, Truckee and Reno have to offer are within 1-1/2 hour’s travel. Verizon cell service and wireless internet is available in much of the community for those who like to stay in touch.
